It was really hard to choose just 14, but here are some standout products from my year!
Mizon Snail Recovery Gel Cream ($15.50) – I got this in a Beauteque subscription bag. It has snail secretion in it, which I hadn’t used before this product, so I was excited to try it. This absorbs really quickly into my skin and makes it feel moisturized.
Skin Food Wildberry Milk Cleansing Cream – I did a full review of this here, but I’ve been using it regularly and have really been loving how it’s been treating my skin. It feels both moisturized yet clean.
Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide ($48) – I completely lucked out when choosing this shade blind from the Sephora website. The shade Cashew is perfect for me. This is a really light foundation that’s matte and wears really well. I usually put a few dabs of this on my face and use a kabuki brush to spread it out.
Chosungah X Memebox Get! Peachy Glow Pact ($19) – I liked this more than I thought it would, and it has a nice scent with a natural glow. My favorite way to wear this is to mix it with foundation all over, then dab a little as a highlight on the cheekbone. Full review here.
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette ($58) – I got this when it first came out for VIBs, and I absolutely adore this. I reach for this so often, and it’s so easy to get a natural glow out of this. I apply this with the Real Techniques Blush Brush, sometimes mixing shades but usually going for the leftmost or rightmost shade. I really want to try the Ambient Lighting Palette soon!
NARS Virtual Domination Cheek Palette ($65) – My favorite from this is actually the bronzer. I hadn’t tried the Laguna Bronzer before this, and it is wonderful for creating a natural contour. I also really liked trying the coral shades and expanding my collection. This is the cheek palette I ended up taking up with me on break, also because it has a bronzer included.
Marc Jacobs Style Eye-Con No. 7, The Siren ($59) – Pictured on left. This came out in Marc Jacobs summer collection. I was looking for some bolder shades to incorporate in my collection, and this collection fit the bill and had gotten really good reviews. And the reviews were right! All of the colors are satin and have just the right amount of shimmer. What’s great about this is that these colors are all so wearable despite looking bright in the pan. I just put a pop of color on the center of the lid and use a dark brown or black (or the dark green) on the outer corner.
Marc Jacobs Style Eye-Con No. 7, the Parisienne ($59) – Pictured on right. I really debated getting this palette, because I thought I could dupe the shades, but I liked the Siren so much that I wanted to give this a shot. This has all of the elements of what I need to do my usual neutral eye with the white in the inner corner, the light tan all over, and the dark brown in the outer corner. All the shades are the same finish as the Siren palette, a satin, except for the purple/magenta on the end, which has some chunky glitter. This palette is currently my go-to palette!
NARS Audacious Lipstick, Anita ($32) – The Audacious formula is amazing and this shade almost perfectly dupes my bottom lip color!
Clinique Different Lipstick, A Different Grape ($16) – This lipstick is surprisingly creamy, moisturizing, and easy to apply. I usually buy matte lipsticks in dark shades, but this came in a GWP, so I was very pleasantly surprised. I wore this when I recently went to see the musical Wicked!
Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick, Bitch Perfect ($32) – Gotta be honest, got this for the name, but it turned out to be such a great shade. It has the perfect amount of shimmer to make your lips look just perfect even while looking natural.
Le Métier de Beauté Colour Core Moisture Stain Lipstick in Ibiza ($32) – I originally got this from Birchbox for some coupon code (which I have since forgotten…), and it’s also the first product I tried from Le Métier de Beauté. The formula is great, slightly moisturizing but longwearing, but what makes this color even more amazing is the pearliness of this shade.
ALTERNA BAMBOO Smooth Kendi Oil Dry Oil Mist ($16.75) I think this came in a Glossybox, but I’m not sure what box. This has a really nice scent to it, but it’s one of the few products I’ve found that helps to control my flyaways. I usually use this before a night out to make my hair shinier and control the frizz.
So those are my favorite for 2014! I wish I could’ve picked more than fourteen, haha. This Charlotte Tilbury Eyeshadow Palette would be a runner-up, along with the Shu Uemura Painting Liner. Here’s to a great 2015!
