I picked up the YSL Rouge Volupté Lipstick in no. 9 Caress Pink during Sephora’s 20% off sale in November. I figured it would be a good time to get it, since there would probably be no other time this would go on sale. I’m really happy with the shade I chose, and the formula is also unique in my collection.
YSL’s official website describes this as:
An object of desire, this award-winning lipstick is wrapped in a romantic, elegant gold case that exudes luxury. Each signature shade saturates lips in captivating color that’s intensely pigmented, and imparts an irresistible glossy shine. The long-lasting, comforting formula is highlighted with a unique Color-shine Complex that leaves lips visibly smoother, plumper and more radiant. Light, silky texture smoothes on a veil of satiny, sensual color that’s altogether alluring.
Formula – Pros: The formula is pretty moisturizing, and the lipstick goes on very smooth. It’s probably the creamiest, softest lipstick I own. At the same time, the pigmentation is really good and you probably need one pass on the lips, maybe two at most. There is built-in shine to the lipstick, so I wouldn’t wear it with a gloss.
Formula – Con: Because it is moisturizing and creamy, the staying power is not that great. If I’m going somewhere where I know I’ll be eating and drinking, this is not the lipstick I reach for.
Like I said before, I’m really happy about this shade. It’s described as a “muted raspberry pink,” which I suppose it is. It’s a bit darker than your really coral or bright pink lipsticks, but it’s also much brighter than your regular MLBB lipsticks. I’ve used this shade to brighten up a really neutral look, but I’ve also used it to tone down a really bold look, because the color is also natural. This shade is really kind of in between, which makes it so unique.
I just wanted to end with a shout-out to the packaging and scent! Like all YSL products, the packaging is soooo pretty, and the scent is very nice and not too strong but also noticeable when putting it on.
