I ended up buying this set during Sephora’s Cyber Monday sale, since I wanted to get their Cyber Monday Mystery Bag that came with a purchase. The set has since sold out, but some retailers probably still have stock in-store and all of the components are still sold separately. The set contains:
- Almost Lipstick Black Honey 1g
- Superbalms Moisturizing Gloss Black Honey 7ml
- A different Enamel Black Honey 4ml
- Quickliner For Eyes Intense Black Honey 0.14g
The horizontal swatch at the top is actually Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Red Dahlia for comparison, while the others are the eyeliner, the lipstick swatched heavily, the lipstick swatched one pass, and the lip gloss.
Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey
So yeah, you can see that there isn’t too much of a difference in shade between the tinted lip balm and the “almost lipstick.” I guess I was really hoping for much more pigmentation. To really get it to show up, you have to do multiple passes, and it’s also not the most moisturizing, so why not just call it what it is – a non-moisturizing tinted balm? It’s good for a more natural look, but even then, I’d rather use a more neutral opaque lipstick or a more moisturizing tinted lip balm. I do really like the packaging of the lipstick itself, though. The silver just makes it look so sleek, and I like how it’s really thin.
Clinique SuperBalms Moisturizing Gloss Black Honey
Your standard lip gloss, nothing that really stood out to me. It looks and feels nice, just nothing special.
Clinique Quickliner For Eyes Intense Black Honey
This eyeliner is a nice shade, but it doesn’t have really good staying power, so the “intense” power goes away quite quickly. Nothing special about this eyeliner, either.
In general, I thought the set was pretty standard and not anything special. (Skipped over the nail color, since I don’t usually wear dark shades on the nails.) I was a bit disappointed by the “almost lipstick,” since I thought it might be something a bit more unique in a good way, since it had been hyped up before. Anyways, I ended up returning this to Sephora, since I really don’t see myself reaching for it much in the future, and the large lipstick (though nice-looking) doesn’t fit into my makeup bag I usually care with me as conveniently.
